jaffa brownies

Chocolate and orange are a match made in heaven and these brownies are honestly a taste of heaven! They are so easy to make and are sure to impress anyone you share them with!! Best part, you only need a bowl and a spoon (no mixing equipment required!!).

recipe (makes 9)

ingredients

for the brownies

  • 1 cup almond meal

  • ¼ cup cacao

  • ½ cup chopped pecans

  • ½ cup maple syrup

  • ½ cup almond butter

  • 2 tbsp melted coconut oil

  • Zest of one orange

  • Pinch of salt flakes

  • ¼ cup oat milk (if needed)

for the chocolate drizzle

  • 250g chocolate (I used Whittaker’s Oat Milk chocolate)

  • 2 tbsp orange juice

  • Zest of 1/2 orange

  • 1-2 tbsp maple syrup

method

1. Preheat oven to 180C with the fan on.

2. Line a round 20 x 20 cm round baking tray with baking paper (tray available at Woolworths).

3. In a large bowl mix together all the ingredients for the brownies except for the milk. If the mixture is

too hard to stir then add the milk.

4. Pour the brownie mixture into the tray and using a spatula flatten it out so it is in a single layer.

5. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until completely cooked through. Check the brownies after 25 minutes and if they are getting too much colour put some foil over the top and cook for another 5-10 minutes or until completely cooked (knife can go into centre and come out clean).

6. Allow the mixture to cool for 2-3 hours.

7. To make the chocolate drizzle, melt the chocolate (either in the microwave or over a double boiler) and add in the orange juice, orange zest and maple syrup.

8. Pour the drizzle over the brownies and use a spatula to make it nice and even. Allow to set in the fridge for an hour before cutting into squares to serve!

tip

The brownies will stay nice and fresh if you keep them in an airtight container in the fridge.
